  • Wish Me Luck - I'll Need It

Whose stupid idea was it to enter myself in the annual Prelim Dressage competition at the local riding school on Equestrianism's very own answer to Michael Schumacher? Come on, own up.
Oh yeah, it my idea. Damn, can't blame anyone but myself. I think I'm going to cry now.
Almost every year without fail I put myself through this ritual humiliation, also known as a dressage test. I am sure thay only let me enter for the entertainment value. I have yet to disappoint. My best finish in this competition has been 7th, with only one person behind me. You may think that's not too bad, but the person who finished behind me had to withdraw with an injury. That was with a lovely TB mare, who decided to add her own improvisation to the test. Never, ever ride a horse that's smarter than you when it comes to dressage. Bad idea. The following year I was working, the year after it was cancelled due to lack of entries. Then a couple of years ago, I rode Gypsy in the test. Yes, that Gypsy. The one who thinks he's Michael Schumacher and that dressage tests are to be done ultra, ultra fast. Last year I rode a horse who just couldn't be bothered with the whole idea of dressage. I lost marks for using my voice. So this year I am returning to Gypsy. I now have some semblance of control over him, and our rehersal went alright yesterday (if you disount the fact that I got a couple of the movements mixed up, and that Gypsy was possibly half asleep). So I am expected to finish in the top 2 tomorrow.
Is there anyway I can get out of this?

  • Mika

This is Mika singing "Lollipop" live:

The question is, if you like a singer, does their sexuality really matter? If not, why do so many people get hung up on the subject. There are numerous Queen videos on Youtube, and narrow-minded people use the sexuality of Freddie Mercury to justify their opinions on a song, they are unable to say simply that they dislike that song, they have to continue on and say that it would have been a great song if Freddie had been straight. The same type of people are now using the exact same reasons to justify their dislike of Mika, despite the fact that he has never said whether or not he is gay. They just make an assumption. One bloke went as far as to say that his new single, "Big Girl, You Are Beautiful" could only be sung by a gay man, as no straight man would actually like big women.
Maybe it's me, but surely, in music, someone's sexuality shouldn't really matter?
